From Interstate 59, travel to Exit 182 near Gadsden and go north on I-759. Continue on I-759 and turn left on George Wallace Drive. Keep going through four red lights, and the city of Gadsden Boat Dock is on the left behind Dollar General and Farmers Furniture.

The Renew Our Rivers Neely Henry Lake cleanup is Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 on the Coosa River. Volunteers will meet at the city of Gadsden Boat Dock at 9 a.m. each day to pick up supplies. Volunteers should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Minors must have a chaperone to participate.

This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by Alabama Power, Gadsden Beautification Board, Keep Etowah Beautiful Inc., Sheriff Todd Entrekin, The Gadsden Times, Etowah County Commission, AT&T Pioneers and Gadsden State Community College.

Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, have collected more than 14 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000. This year, 32 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.
